Visitors

Brookview is piloting a new visitor system.  The new system is more efficient and user-friendly.  With the new system, all visitors must have their photo ID with them each time they come to Brookview.

Please keep this in mind if you are planning to visit the building. It is required and guests will not be allowed to enter until they have been scanned into the system. If you forget a photo ID, you will not be allowed to enter. Please remember that these procedures have been put in place to help keep our students safe.

The Giving Tree

The season of giving is upon us.  Our Student Lighthouse Team will be collecting gifts for Brookview Families this holiday season.  If you are interested in giving this holiday season, please stop by the front hallway and pull an ornament off of the Giving Tree.  Then simply follow the instructions located on the ornament and bring the wrapped gift back to school.  The Giving Tree will be up by Nov. 10th.  We will be collecting gifts through Dec. 13th.  Thank you for helping out those in need during this holiday season.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Peek at epeek@waukeeschools.org.

When to Come to School

Any day children are free from any of the concerns listed above, they should be at school! While we certainly understand that illnesses and special circumstances are bound to happen, especially with children, please do your best to help your children be at school everyday. Avoid scheduling appointments during the school day, when possible. Here are a few things to keep in mind when considering your child’s school attendance:

Why Attendance Matters

  • Research shows that missing 10 percent of a school year, or two days a month, negatively affects a student’s academic performance.
  • Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of third grade.
  • When students improve their attendance rates, they improve the likelihood of school success academically and socially.
  • All students in a classroom may suffer when even one student is chronically absent. The inconsistency can hamper a teacher’s ability to engage all students and meet their learning needs.
